Terms of Service

Please read these terms before using Vertex. They explain what the game is, what VXC virtual credits are, and what we each expect of the other.

1. What VERTEX is

VERTEX is a virtual market prediction game. You predict whether a market finishes above or below a target price before a round closes, and the result is settled by our servers.

VERTEX is entertainment and skill practice. It is not a broker, exchange, trading venue, investment adviser or money service, and it does not execute, arrange or facilitate any real trade.

2. Virtual credits (VXC)

VXC is a virtual in-game credit. It has no cash value, cannot be redeemed, withdrawn or transferred outside VERTEX, and is not cryptocurrency or an investment asset.

New accounts begin with 10,000 VXC. VXC balances exist only inside VERTEX and may be adjusted, reset or discontinued as the service evolves.

  • VXC has no cash or monetary value.
  • VXC cannot be redeemed, withdrawn, sold or exchanged for money or goods.
  • VXC cannot be transferred to another person or off the service.
  • Holding VXC gives you no ownership, equity, credit, security or investment interest of any kind.
  • VXC is not cryptocurrency and is not backed by any asset.

3. Predictions are not financial services

Nothing in VERTEX is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and no outcome in the game is a recommendation to do anything in a real market.

Prices, targets, results and rankings are game mechanics. Your performance in VERTEX does not predict or represent real-market performance.

4. Market information

VERTEX displays market information obtained from third-party data providers. That information may be delayed, incomplete, interrupted or corrected after the fact.

Rounds are opened, locked and settled on server time using the data available to the server at settlement. Where a round cannot be settled fairly it may be voided and the VXC restored.

5. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you provide, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity on your account.

One account per person. Accounts are personal and may not be shared, sold or transferred.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use bots, scripts, automation or multiple accounts to gain an advantage or distort the leaderboard.
  • Attempt to interfere with settlement, balances, rounds, rankings or other players' accounts.
  • Probe, scan, overload or attempt to bypass the security of the service.
  • Upload unlawful, abusive or infringing content, including usernames and profile images.
  • Present VERTEX results as real trading performance, or use the service to imply a real-money offering.

7. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account, adjust or reset virtual balances, or remove content where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or the integrity of the game is at risk.

You may stop using VERTEX at any time. See the account deletion section below.

8. Intellectual property

The VERTEX name, interface, artwork, the VXC coin design and all game content are owned by VERTEX or its licensors and may not be copied or reused without permission.

You keep the rights to the content you upload, and grant us the limited licence needed to display it inside the service.

9. Availability and changes

VERTEX is provided on an as-available basis. Features, markets, timeframes and game rules may change, and the service may be interrupted for maintenance, provider outages or reasons outside our control.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new revision date.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, including uninterrupted availability, or the accuracy, timeliness or completeness of market information.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of virtual credits, rankings, progression or game history. Because VXC has no monetary value, no claim may be founded on its value.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Account deletion

You can request deletion of your account and associated game data. Self-service deletion is being finalised; until it ships, deletion requests are handled through the support page.

Deleting your account removes your access and your VXC balance. VXC is not refundable or convertible, because it has no monetary value.
